Who are you and what do you do? 

We are a locally-owned, independent business dedicated to connecting our customers with smaller-scale spirits and wine producers. We seek out delicious, interesting, and well-made spirits and wines that excite us, and we tell the stories behind them. We personally taste nearly every bottle; if we love a product and think you will too, we offer these selections through our email newsletters and at our location in downtown Indianapolis. 

Is it a bar or a store? 

Storied Company is a purveyor of specialty spirits and wines, with a dedicated space where we host events. You can sample from a generous selection of products, and if you find something you like you may purchase items to go.

Why are you called Storied Company?

Merriam-Webster defines storied as "having an interesting history: celebrated in story or history." These words perfectly describe the spirits and wines we offer. They're among the best of the best and come from places and producers with their own unique stories. Storied is also what we want to be: a legendary business that people visit from near and far in their quest to find the perfect bottle. 

Our team members are also storytellers. Our Manager, Irishman and Corkonian Denis Lynch, loves sharing the stories behind the spirits he is so passionate about (along with lots of other stories...he's Irish, after all!).  Our wine guru, Yorkshireman and raconteur Simon O'Grady, can often be found telling tales stemming from his years of experience selecting, serving, and savoring wines from every corner of the globe. And with your support, we've added to the team, with Dave Helt and Stella Snyder both more than capable of spinning a few spirited yarns of their own. Together, we are Storied Company. 

What kinds of wine and spirits do you offer? 

Our selection tends to be a bit different; we primarily focus on smaller production spirits and wines that are made with love and care by independent and family producers. We specialize in products that are made by people (not machines), are typically free of chemicals and industrial manipulation, and are authentic and genuine in nature. What is your return policy? 

We stand by all the products we offer and want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you are not satisfied with your order for any reason, we ask that you contact us immediately at friends@storiedcompany.com and we will do all that we can to make things right. For wines and spirits that may be corked or flawed we always offer a 100% refund within six months from receipt of invoice. If you suspect a product is flawed we ask that you reseal the bottle with the remaining contents intact and contact us as soon as possible.

When are you open? 

We are open Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 4.30 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 4.30 pm.

The tasting bar will close at 3.30 pm prior to evening events, see email newsletters for details.

Where are you located? 

We are located at 20 North Delaware Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46204. There is on-street parking nearby, along with a parking garage to the south of us on Washington Street, as well as a surface parking lot just 50 feet north of our front door. 

How big is your location? 

Eh, massive if you are a mouse, or a little tight if you are an elephant! Let’s just say that it is compact, cozy, and a little bit quirky, but the nice thing about it is there’s always something new and interesting to taste and something else just waiting to be discovered. 

Where can I view your products? 

Our selection changes frequently, as we seek out new and interesting smaller production spirits and wines. You may visit us in person and follow us on Facebook or Instagram, however we highly recommend that you sign-up for our email newsletters to keep up with our many discoveries. 

How do you select products to offer? 

We canvas the world looking for items that we think our customers will love. We taste virtually everything before we offer it to our customers, rejecting far more items than you can imagine. Only the very best spirits and wines land on our shelves; this is what sets us apart from the rest.  

Why do I need an account, and what does it cost? 

You will need an account to place an order or purchase an item featured through our email offers. There is no charge to set up a full account with us. With your first order, please include your credit card billing address in your email reply, along with a phone number at which we can reach you for your credit card details. We send out several email offers per week. To place an order please just follow the prompts. Your credit card on file* will only be charged when the product has arrived at our location and your order is ready to be processed. 

*We take the handling of your sensitive information seriously. Your credit card information is stored in tokenized form in a secure credit card vault and is separate from our point of sales system for additional security. This service is provided by Gravity Payments.

How do you allocate products to customers? 

Products offered through our email newsletters are typically available on a first-come, first-served basis. If we expect demand to outstrip supply for an item, we may limit the number of bottles each customer may buy. For example, each person might be allowed one bottle before anyone gets a second, and so on. In certain situations, preference will be given to customers with full accounts, account longevity, and who have frequent and recent purchase history.

Can I taste before I buy? 

We offer customers samples where possible, however sometimes highly allocated and in-demand products may sell out long before a sample becomes available. 

Why don’t you discount? 

While many stores artificially inflate their prices, only to discount items at a later stage, we choose to offer all our customers our best price through our email newsletters, and let the products speak for themselves. 

Do you deliver or ship? 

We offer local delivery upon request. Please email us at friends@storiedcompany.com for further details.  

 

Do you have a phone number? 

The nature of our business means that we are not always available to take calls as we may be conducting tastings, helping customers, or making a delivery, which is why we ask that you email us at friends@storiedcompany.com. We will respond as soon as possible. Please include a phone number should we need to speak with you in person. 

How long does it take to process my order? 

Our email newsletters state whether the product is on-site or whether it is a pre-order. If it is on-site, then it can take from a few days to up to a week, from the time the email was sent to allocate, process the order and contact you. Pre-order offers may take a couple of weeks to arrive to us, as our sources are spread across the country. Once the product arrives and is processed, you will receive an email receipt indicating that your order is ready. 

When can I pick up my order? 

You may pick up your order once you receive an email receipt. Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice of your intention to pick-up your orders, by emailing us at friends@storiedcompany.com As a reminder, we are open Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 4.30 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 4.30 pm.

What forms of payment do you take?

While Denis would happily accept a pot of gold from a leprechaun, the reality is that we only accept Credit and Debit cards.

Do you offer gift cards?

We do, they are available for purchase at our location or by emailing us at friends@storiedcompany.com

Do you host tastings or events? 

We hold educational events; details can be had by signing up for our email newsletters.

Can I bring my kids to your establishment? 

We require that all customers be over the age of 21, and please don’t be offended when we ask to see your ID; it’s our policy. 

What is your privacy policy? 

Storied Company is committed to customer privacy. We will never sell or share any customer information. Customer information will only be used for the purposes of offering great spirits and wine.
